Gatemen play hard at all-star game
They may not have won, but they're still all-stars.
The Wareham Gatemen sent four players to represent the team in the 2013 Cape Cod Baseball League All Star Game, held July 27, where they and their fellow Western Division teammates fell to the Eastern Division, 9-3.
Eastern Division pitchers kept the Western offense at bay, limiting the team to just five hits.
Gatemen right-handed-pitcher Bradley Roney of the University of Southern Mississippi stepped on to the mound in the 8th, but had a rough time.
J.D. Davis of California State University, Fullerton, hit a double, which was followed by another double from Ross Kivet of Kansas, who drove Davis in for a run.
Wareham was also represented at the game by Tino Lipson of the University of California, Davis, at second base, Ethan Gross of Memphis University at shortstop, and Cole Sturgeon of the University of Louisville in center field.
