Girls track round-up

Jun 10, 2013

Aliyah Alley ended her high school track career on a high note, placing ninth in the 100m dash, and tenth in the 200m dash at the New England Championship in New Britain Connecticut Saturday, June 8. Alley missed making the finals in the 100m dash by just .02 seconds.

The up and coming generation of Wareham High School runners showed the state what they're made of at the Third Annual Massachusetts Middle School Championship June 8, at Fitchburg University.

Wareham High School allows eighth graders to run on the high school track team, and if the eighth grade girls performance this year is any indication, the girls track team is going to just keep getting better.

The three girls competing all managed to beat their personal bests in their respective events, and earn places on the podium.

Hunter Thatcher placed first in Division 1, and eighth overall in the shot put at states, tossing it 29 feet and 11 inches

Maddie Kowlowsky placed fifth in Division 1 hurdles with a time of 18.59 seconds. Kali Fernandes took sixth place in Division 1 in the long jump, jumping 13 feet and eleven inches, beating her personal best by 16 inches.
