Gladiator Squirts place third in tournament, Pee Wees open new year with win
The Gladiator hockey season is still in full swing as the new year begins.
The Squirts have had a busy couple of weeks. On the morning of Christmas Eve, the Squirts defeated Plymouth 7-0. Brayden Cannon, Josh Gifford, Ben Hebbel, Patrick Duggan and Tommy Clavell all had goals, and Liz Kilpatrick scored two.
Two days later, the Squirts headed to Bridgeport, Connecticut to play in the Doritos Holiday Bash. The team opened with a 3-1 loss to the Wonderland Wizards, where Hebbel had the lone goal. However, the team bounced back that night with a 9-0 win over the Stamford Sharks. Hebbel, Cannon, Clavell and Brayden Hathon each scored twice and Patrick Tripp scored once.
The next day the team took on host Bridgeport Doritos, where they tied 7-7. The team fell behind 3-0 early on, but was able to fight back. Clavell and Hebbel each scored twice, while the other goals were added by Hathon, Tripp and Bree Killion. The team finished third in the tournament.
On New Year’s Eve, the Squirts tied Whitman-Hanson-Kingston 3-3. Tripp scored once and Hebbel added the other two goals.
The Pee Wees welcomed the new year with a win, beating the Coastal Stars 7-2 on New Year’s Day. Ty Rebeiro led the way, scoring five goals in the game. Other goals were added by Joe Urnek and Thomas Leger.
