GoMotion keeps runners going after dark
Wareham-based GoMotion is bucking Mother Nature with its line of athletic wear containing built-in LED lights.
Located in the Wareham Industrial Park, GoMotion’s motto is “extend the day,” and that’s just what Bob Hunnewell and his business partner, Jonathan Craig, aspired to do when they launched the company in 2007 after Craig became frustrated – and subsequently inspired by – the head lamp he wore while running.
The company has two new products out: The SYNERGY Hydration LightVest and the Light Belt 100.
"It has a hydration tube. It's a fully lit backpack like the other products... but it also has a one-liter hydro pack bladder," Hunnewell said of the backpack.
The vests have lights on the torso, rather than just the head, so the runner is more visible to people who are driving. There are a number of other products including the Waist Light Kit and the Sternum Light Kit.
In addition to being less weight, the equipment appeals to runners who are looking for something a bit more stylish than the yellow reflective vests that can make a jogger look like they're supposed to be working on the road instead of running on it.
The products can also be used by hikers or campers navigating their way through the woods.
"It's really for anybody who wants to do any activity before sunrise or after dusk," said Hunnewell.
Hunnewell says that the company tries to put a new product out every six months.
"We're a new company, and there are lots of ideas, so we just want to put them out there as quick as we can," he said.
