Gone fishin': Families take to Weweantic with homemade poles
With a stick, some line and a hook, families made their own fishing poles Friday evening, courtesy of the Buzzards Bay Coalition.
Eleven people gathered at Horseshoe Mill at the end of Station Road, which is part of the coalition’s 34-acre Weweantic River Reserve property. The event was part of Discover Buzzards Bay, an initiative to help people across the Buzzards Bay region find ways to explore the outdoor.
Upcoming events include Marsh Madness, a walk at the Lyman Reserve at 110 Red Brook Road in Plymouth where participants can explore the plants and animals that live near a salt marsh on Oct. 20.
On Oct. 27, Orienteering at Minot Forest will let participants use a compass to navigate the trails and woods near Minot Forest Elementary School. Both events start at 5:15 p.m. Registration is required for each program.
