Grant L. MacConnell, 53
Grant L. MacConnell, 53, died Jan. 5 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a long illness. He was the husband of Michelle B. (Gordon) MacConnell.
Born in Newton, he was the son of Robert MacConnell of Braintree (former athletic director, Marshfield High School) and the late Lois (Lanzetta) MacConnell. A graduate of Marshfield High School, he was a previous resident of Plymouth before moving to Wareham 10 years ago.
Grant worked in systems security for CVS in Woonsocket, RI. He was also owner of the former Onset Bay Blues Cafe in Onset. He enjoyed blues music and was a bass player. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast and a member of the Cape Cod Chapter Harley Owners Group. His other interests included boating, playing pool, and golf.
Grant was former president of the Cape Cod Chapter of ABATE political action committee for bikers' rights.
Survivors include his wife, his father, and his son, Grant L. MacConnell, Jr., of Plymouth; his daughter, Stephanie MacConnell of Plymouth; his sister, Susan McKenney of Braintree; his grandson, Lucas MacConnell, and his dog “Lilly.”
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Jan. 11, at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham, at 6:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 4 to 6 p.m. prior to the service. Following the service, friends and relatives are invited to “Grant’s Last Jam,” to be held at the Trowbridge Tavern, 100 Trowbridge Road, Bourne.
