Grant money available for home improvements
The Community and Economic Development Authority (CEDA) has announced that there is $35,000 in grant money available to eligible Wareham residents who wish to rehabilitate their properties.
CEDA will work with eligible property owners to determine the scope of the work that needs to be done, and help identify qualified contractors.
Residents may put the money toward numerous improvements including plumbing, heating, electrical, carpentry, insulation, roofing, and architectural barrier removal.
The property must be occupied by either the owner or the investor. If the property is investor-owned, the owner will be required to enter into a 15-year "Rent Regulatory Agreement" to ensure that rents remain affordable during the term of the grant or loan.
Additionally, in order to qualify for a grant, residents must meet income guidelines and own property or live in one of CEDA's designated target areas.
