Hazardous waste day

May 19, 2019

The Carver Marion Wareham Waste Disposal District is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste collection day on Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wareham Municipal Maintenance Area on Charge Pond Road.

Residents can drop off aerosol cans, flammable liquids and solvents, batteries, anti-freeze, motor oil, spent gasoline, and products including mercury (thermostats, thermometers, fluorescent bulbs, float switches, etc.).

Empty propane tanks will be accepted.

Latex-based paint, tires, PCBs, radioactive materials, and explosives will not be accepted.

The Benson Brook transfer station accepts fluorescent bulbs and mercury-containing devices from residents and small businesses.

The waste disposal day is sponsored by the district and Covanta Energy of SEMASS.

District officials encourage residents to participate in this opportunity to recycle.
