High winds knock out power for Wareham customers
Mar 14, 2017
While Wareham has been spared significant snowfall so far during Tuesday’s storm, high winds caused a nuisance for public safety officials.
As of 2:30 p.m., Eversource reports that of 14,577 customers in Wareham 217 (1 percent) are without power.
Throughout the morning and early afternoon, police and firefighters responded to a slew of calls for downed wires, including one report of a transformer fire at Indian Neck Road. The fire was extinguished and Eversource was called to restore power to the area.
First responders also dealt with several other minor issues, such as low hanging wires and brief power outages that set off alarms for businesses on Cranberry Highway and elsewhere in town.
