The Wareham Historical society will host speaker John Decas on Monday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m at the Methodist Meeting House located at 495 Main St.
Decas, former co-owner of Decas Cranberry Products in Carver will speak about his family’s heritage, the cranberry industry and growing up in Wareham. The event will also include a presentation from Decas on his experience during the 1954 hurricanes, Carol and Edna.
The Decas family has been a benefactor to several community projects including the Decas School, named after John William Decas, who died in World War II.
The historical society will serve refreshments and admission to the program is free to members.
Admission for non-members is $2.
