Hockey Unlimited names Wareham girl 'most improved player'

Feb 23, 2017

Hockey Unlimited recently honored two players, including one Wareham girl, and one coach for their dedication and sportsmanship near the end of the youth league’s season.

Norah Schiappa of Wareham and Aaron Delaney of Plymouth received Most Improved Player awards.

“Norah and Aaron each have shown that hard work and dedication can pay handsome dividends.” said Hockey Unlimited’s Head Coach and Managing Director Tim Dyer. “Both Norah’s and Aaron's skating and related hockey skills have improved almost every session with us. We are pleased to have both of them on our roster.”

The Hutchinson Family Sportsmanship Award was presented to Assistant Coach Scott Delaney. This award is named after the longtime Southeastern Massachusetts hockey family for “outstanding contributions to the program relative to sportsmanship and preserving the true spirit and ‘love of the game’ of hockey”.

Coach Jim Hutchinson, Jr. praised Delaney for his dedication.

“The sportsmanship, fellowship and friendly spirit he brings to our organization clearly contributes to the culture we strive for with our young people - on and off the ice,” said Hutchinson.

Delaney is a longtime employee of Suffolk Construction, the firm that undertook the massive construction project at Tabor Academy roughly 15 years ago for its Fish Center for Health and Athletics, including the hockey rink.

Hockey Unlimited is committed to teaching the fundamentals of ice hockey to individuals - male and female - of just about all ages. All sessions are held at Tabor’s Travis Roy Rink.
