Holiday Happenings at Wareham Crossing

Dec 15, 2012

Wareham Crossing was abuzz with activity during the mall's Holiday Happenings event  Saturday, Dec. 15.

There were deals at stores, musical entertainment, and plenty of opportunities to donate food or toys to those less fortunate.

At Lindt chocolates, there was a coloring contest for kids, and employee Joan Fruzzetti said the turnout was good enough that Lindt opened its doors early.

“It’s been very busy,” she said.

Lowe's had Santa on hand to take gift requests from children, and offered free coffee for the grown-ups.

Radio 92.9 set up shop next to the mall's lighthouse and collected toys for the Dick Melloni Youth Foundation's annual toy drive. The radio personalities brought Boston-area musician A.J. Edwards with them, and he entertained shoppers while the DJs collected toys.

“The first 92 people that donate get a present from one of the stores here,” explained DJ Jason Rossi.

There was also a horse-drawn carriage ride and face-painting.

But in the midst of the activities, it was clear that lending a helping hand to those in need was at the heart of the event.

In addition to the Dick Melloni Youth Foundation toy drive, the Wareham Police Department held its "Stuff a cruiser" event at Target, and a number of stores, including Lowe's, offered areas to drop off toys.
