Illegal substances seized in Village Motel drug raid

Approximately 20 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 90 grams of suspected cocaine, $500 cash and other items “consistent with the illegal narcotics trade” were seized during a drug raid conducted at Village Motel on Cranberry Highway. Richard Rodriguez, 44, of 2739 Cranberry Highway unit 4, was arrested and charged with trafficking in more than 100 grams of cocaine after the Dec. 10 morning raid, according to the Wareham Police Department press release.

Wareham Police detectives and members of the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the raid. When officers attempted to enter the room, they encountered “a door that was fortified with a board fastened by metal brackets,” according to the press release.

Once entry was made and Rodriguez was secured, officers searched the room. During the search, officers found the illicit material.
