There were no surprises in Tuesday's Onset Fire District election as voters returned all incumbents to their respective positions. There were no contested races.

District Clerk-Treasurer Mary McCoy reported that Prudential Committee member Pamela Pike received 87 votes, Water Commissioner Benjamin Hughes received 75 votes and incumbent Moderator Robert Brousseau won his position as a write-in candidate. McCoy said she did not have the number of votes Brousseau received readily available.

A write-in candidate for the Water Commissioner seat, John Cook, received 15 votes.

The Prudential Committee is responsible for overseeing Fire Department affairs and Water Commissioners are responsible for governing the Water Department.

The election followed Monday night's annual district meeting where voters approved funds for a new fire station. While department officials sought $13.9 million for the new station, voters capped spending at $8 million.
