Indian Mound, North Boulevard, and Forbes beaches closed
Indian Mound, North Boulevard, and Forbes beaches have been closed, the Wareham Board of Health announced on Thursday.
Water samples from the beaches did not pass bacterial standards after being analyzed by the Barnstable County Laboratory on August 15.
Swimming at these beaches could pose potentially serious health problems to certain segments of the general population, such as the very young, very old, or immune compromised, according to the Board of Health.
The recent rain events and/or migratory waterfowl are probably a contributing factor to these closures. All other beach water samples meet the bacterial standards and are acceptable for the operation of a bathing beach, according to the Board of Health.
Weekly sampling will be performed to possibly re-open this beach next week.
