Janet M. (Eichwald) Tassinari, 84, of Wareham, passed away July 28, 2022 at home. She was the widow of the late Joseph F. Tassinari and the daughter of the late Herbert Martin and Margaret (Gallo) Eichwald.

She was born in Boston and lived in Roslindale, MA before moving to Wareham. She graduated from Roslindale High School, Boston City Hospital School of Nursing and she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Salve Regina College in Newport, RI.

Mrs. Tassinari loved being a part of the medical profession. She worked as a Registered Nurse for Tobey Hospital and served her community for many years as one of Wareham’s Visiting Nurses. After she retired from the Visiting Nurse Office, she worked in the Bourne Manor Nursing Home as a Senior Staff Educator and later for Marion’s Tabor Academy ensuring that summer camp students were medically prepared to participate in Tabor’s summer program. She was a passionate patient advocate for those whom she helped.

She was a member of the Gleason Family YMCA where, for years, she swam to stay active. She was a member of an informal social group whom she referred to as the “Tuesday Lunch Bunch.” It was this group that she enjoyed being with as they all lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed having fun with her loving family, watching the Red Sox, being around friends, and playing Bingo.

Mrs. Tassinari is survived by her two sons, Jay Kanavos, Lt. Col. (Ret), USAF and his wife Michelle of Marlborough, MA, and Mark Kanavos and his wife Janet of St. Charles, IL; a step-daughter, Susan Tassinari of Westminster, MA; four grandchildren, Adam Kanavos, Katie Sierra, Jennifer Hoffman, and Eric Kanavos; and three great grandchildren, Ella, Archibald and Shepherd.

Visiting hours are from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
