Jason Gonsalves, 95

Jason Gonsalves, 95, of West Wareham, died Aug. 25 in the Sippican Heath Care Center, Marion. He was the husband of Isabelle (Triano) Gonsalves and the son of the late Justino and Maria (Correia) Gonsalves.

He was born in New Bedford and lived in New Jersey for many years before moving to West Wareham in 1984. Mr. Gonsalves was an Army veteran, serving in WWII.

Mr. Gonsalves worked as a driver for the Wareham Council on Aging before retiring, previously he worked at Springborn Marine for many years.

He was a life member of the Club Madeirense S.S. Sacramento in New Bedford. He was an avid Red Sox fan. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Isabelle (Triano) Gonsalves; his children, Jason Gonsalves, James Gonsalves and his wife Heather all of Wareham, Jody Nye and her husband Nathan of Marion, Carol Raymond and her husband Donald of Lansdale, PA, Bob Gonsalves of Orlando, FL, and John Gonsalves and his wife Jude of Middleboro; 25 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by 2 grandchildren and his siblings, Manuel, Mary, Georgiana, and Agnes.

His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
