Though late-afternoon thunderstorms cut the music a bit short, many visited the Onset Band Shell Saturday for the inaugural Onset Beach Jazz Festival.

"I was very, very pleased with the outcome of the day," said Mikelyn Roderick, who helped organize the event along with the Onset Beach Jazz Festival Committee. "Besides that rain in the last hour, we pretty much had a great festival."

Roderick herself was not able to perform, but the rest of the bands played, she said. "I was just happy that the audience could see the other people."

Roderick said she is already looking forward to the second annual event next year.
