WAREHAM – Jean C. Alves, 88, of E. Wareham, died Sunday, December 22, 2024 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham after a long illness.

Born in Wareham, she was the daughter of the late Mary Elsie (Mendes) Roderick and Frank Lopes Roderick. Jean graduated from Wareham High School, Class of 1955 and then worked for H.L. Boutin in Buzzards Bay. Jean then served as Assistant Town Clerk for the Town of Wareham for many years. She was a longtime volunteer at Tobey Hospital where she was also "Volunteer of the Year", and a member of the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by her children, Gerald Alves, Jr. and his wife Janet of Leominster, and Andrea Roderick of Wareham; her step-children, Darlene Alves of VA and Richard Alves of Falmouth; her sisters, Joan Fontes, Laura Lopes, Elsie Ganetto, Christine Roderick, and Rita Barnett all of Wareham, and Judy Santos of New Bedford; her grandchildren, Eric Roderick and his wife Jessica, Keith Roderick, Gerald Alves, III, Nicolette Alves, and Brianna Alves; her great grandchildren, Keith Roderick, Brayden Roderick, Quincy Roderick, and Elias Alves. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, the late Jane King.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Fri, Dec. 27th, 2024 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 4 – 7 PM. A funeral service will be held on Sat., Dec. 28th, at the funeral home at 10 AM. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Wareham.
