Jean F. McGrath (Merrigan) of Onset, Massachusetts, peacefully passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021; she was 92. Originally from Arlington, Massachusetts, Jean was born to William Merrigan and Barbara Ridge Merrigan. Jean’s loving husband of 61 years, John F. McGrath, predeceased her in May of 2011. Jean leaves behind five children: John McGrath III and wife Wendy; Barbara Smith and husband Walter; Nancy McGrath; Gary McGrath; and Thomas McGrath and wife Patricia.

Grandma Jean’s loving and kind demeanor will be remembered by her twelve grandchildren: Meagan, Daniel, Kristian, Kate, Kaitlyn, Erin, Jennifer, Collin, Patrick, Thomas, Liam, and Mayann; she is predeceased by her eldest grandchild John McGrath IV. Additionally, she is survived by five great-grandchildren: Abigail, Lillian, Shiloh, Knox, and Harper. 

When Jean wasn’t tending to her garden, she could be found singing, painting, quilting, and taking frequent trips to Nantucket and the beach. Jean was the light in so many of our lives and will always be remembered for her tender and affectionate spirit. She will live on in the hearts and minds of all those she touched.
