John Kelley, 77

John M. Kelley, 77, of Wareham, formerly of Mission Hill, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30 after a courageous battle with cancer with his wife by his side.

John was born and raised in Boston and moved to Wareham in 1975.

He enjoyed crocheting, genealogy, spending time with his grandchildren and his yearly travels to Northern Ireland with his wife.  He also enjoyed the time he spent with his late dog, Tasha.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary C. (Noade) Kelley; his three children, Judy Ashley and her husband Paul of E. Freetown, Betsy Stephens and her husband Chuck of East Wareham, and John Kelley and his wife Meisha of Wareham.  He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Sarah and Paul Ashley, Brandan and Sean Stephens, Matthew, Cameron and Savannah Kelley; his brother James Kelley and his wife Norma, and his nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Arthur G. and Catherine P. (O’Keefe) Kelley and brother of the late Patricia M. (Kelley) Rodday.

Visiting hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham, MA. His funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5 from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham, MA.  Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Society of the Little Flower, 1313 N. Frontage Road, Darien, IL 60561.
