WAREHAM – Josefa Ramos-Aponte, 98, of West Wareham passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on July 25, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Jose Pilar Ramos and Agustina Aponte.

She was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico and lived there for many years before moving to Wareham and then Chicopee, Massachusetts.

Josefa enjoyed drinking coffee and making homemade meals for her family and friends. Her favorite color was blue. She was a devoted and helpful person to all her family, friends, and neighbors. She was very strict yet loving in her very own way.

Ms. Ramos-Aponte was a devoted Christian and for many years she attended Renacimiento Cristiano in New Bedford, MA. For many years she worked and retired as a Cafeteria worker in Puerto Rico in several different school districts.

Survivors include her children & partners Norma Colon-Ramos & Paul Gauthier of Chicopee; Jenny & Nicolas Garces of Orlando, FL, and Jorge Pagan-Ramos & Walma Buil of West Wareham; her grandchildren Ruth and Abigail, Janice and Jose, Michelle, Lynnette and Nick Jr. & Brenda; her great grandchildren Jayla, Joey, Jasmine, and Janise, Jorell, Karlos Lenniel, Bryan, Brenick and Brandon, and Jace Michael; her brother, Carlos Ramos of Puerto Rico; as well as several nephews and nieces.

Visiting hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – WAREHAM, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham.

Her funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Agawam Cemetery, Great Neck Rd. & Stillman Memorial Dr., Wareham.
