Joseph Russo, 78, owner, New England Money Handling Supply
Joseph Russo, Jr., 78 of Wareham formerly of Ashland died Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. He was the husband of Ingrid (Schuldt) Russo. They were married for 33 years.
Born in Milford, the son of the late Guiseppe and Angie (Covino) Russo, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean War.
Mr. Russo was the owner of New England Money Handling Supply and retired in 1999. A longtime summer resident of Wareham, he moved there year round when he retired.
He enjoyed cooking, fishing, clamming, and boating, spending time with his family debating current political issues, and playing poker. Mr. Russo also formerly owned racehorses, running them at Suffolk Downs in Boston and Rockingham Park in Salem, NH.
Survivors include his wife; his daughter, Carolyn Pomeroy Assad and her husband David of Sutton; his brother, Aniello Russo of Milford, and his sister, Bella Crescenzi of Milford.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne. Relatives and friends may visit at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the Mass.
