Police officers and their canine partners searched Wareham High School, Wareham Middle School, and the Wareham Cooperative School for illegal drugs on Friday, October 12.

No drugs were found, but the search found two "indications" of marijuana at the high school, and one at the middle school, according to Wareham Police.

The Wareham Police Department K-9 Unit, as well as several K-9 officers and their partners from various area towns were involved in the search, according to police. The officers searched the schools' interiors and the parking lots.

"Although there were three indications of the presence of illegal drugs, there were no illegal drugs found on school property during the search, and no students were found to be in possession of illegal drugs," police said.

The search was a collaborative effort of the Wareham Police Department and the School Department.

"The purpose of the [search] was to ensure a safe learning environment existed for our students," noted Wareham High School Principal Scott Palladino.
