Lady Vikings' coach happy with season, looking forward to next year
The Lady Vikings' season ended on Thursday, Feb. 28, after a 71-52 loss to 4th-seeded Ursuline.
Though the ladies were knocked out of the state tournament, Dave Brogioli, who just completed his first year coaching following the retirement of basketball coach Robert Rojik, said he was very happy with the season as a whole.
"All in all, I thought it was a pretty successful season," Brogioli said. "To qualify for the tournament was one of the big goals for the year. I was very pleased that we qualified at 13-7," he said, referring to the girls' record.
Brogioli is now looking forward to next season.
"We have a lot of work to do in the off-season, and I think we can really make this team a force to be reckoned with," he said.
The team is young -- only two seniors are graduating this year -- which will help the ladies maintain some consistency.
"We've got the core of our team back" next year, the coach noted. "I'm really excited about the back court, with Breanna Muir, Amber Filkins, and Gina Mendes."
Brogioli's goal for next season?
"Hopefully we can make some noise in the championship!"
