Land’s End concerts return to Wareham

Jul 1, 2019

Mark your calendars for this summer’s performances by Music from Land’s End Wareham.

The Church of the Good Shepherd will once again host Music from Land’s End Wareham, a group of professional musicians of different backgrounds and ages who bring a wealth of artistic experience with ensembles, orchestras, and educational institutions from around the world.

Three different programs will be performed during the month of August.

This is Music from Land’s End Wareham’s 8th Season led by Artistic Director Ariadne Daskalakis. The Church is a favorite venue for the musicians not only for the beauty of the Church itself, but also for its superb acoustics. The dates are as follows:

On Friday, August 2, at 5 pm, Duos and Trios by Grieg, Brahms, Schubert, and Mozart will be performed.

On Thursday, August 8, Music from Land’s End Wareham will perform “Summertime Music” for strings at the Wareham Free Library at 1:30 pm. The program is open to the public, and admission is by donation which supports the Wareham Free Library. While the concert is open to all, families are encouraged to attend and bring children of all ages. This concert will be an opportunity to introduce children to classical music.

This program is less formal than the other concerts presented by this group, and children are encouraged to sit up front or on the floor in front of the artists to better observe the performance.  Artistic Director Ariadne Daskalakis takes the time to explain the pieces, often demonstrating on her violin while doing so.

On Sunday, August 11, at 5 pm, attendees will enjoy Brahms String Quintet in G, and “Summertime Music” by Vivaldi, Piazzolla, and Gershwin.

The concerts are open to the public, and admission is by donation. Visit Music from Land’s End Wareham’s website, www.MLEwareham.org, or Facebook page for a full listing of the Summer Concert Series.
