Legion Post ties one, wins two
The Wareham American Legion Post #220 team had a better weekend than the Gatemen, tying one and winning one to bring their record to 3-4-1.
The team tied Plymouth Post #40 on Friday, June 18, as the game was called due to darkness (the Plymouth field has no lights) with a score of 6-6 in the eighth inning.
The highlight of the game was the first-ever home run by Wareham shortstop Mike Sullivan. First baseman Ben Church also homered for Wareham.
The team defeated first place Norwell Post #192 on Sunday, by a score to 10-1. Wareham pitcher Nick Filloramo, from Old Rochester Regional, went the distance for the win. The offense accrued 14 hits and was led by Sullivan who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI.
On Tuesday, the team remained hot on offense with a 12-8 win over Brockton. Ryan Delgado lead the offense, going 3-for-3 with five RBIs including a grand slam in the fifth inning.
