Leslie C. (Berry) Paul, 71, of Wareham, formerly of North Easton, died Jan. 6 at Tobey Hospital. She was the wife of Donald W. Paul and the daughter of the late Ralph L. and Helen C. (Marden) Berry.

She was born in Boston and lived in North Easton for many years before retiring to Wareham.

She graduated from Dedham High School and Barrington College.

Mrs. Paul was an elementary school teacher in Brockton for 42 years before retiring. Even after retirement she continued to be a presence in the schools through her work in the Brookfield Extended Day program and as a substitute teacher.

She was a member of the Crommessett Park Improvement Association and led the Sunshine Committee. She enjoyed spending time at sheep pasture, the beach and loved being a Grammy. Leslies’ ever present smile, “Happy, Happy” attitude, and 5 o’clock somewhere philosophy will be missed by those who knew her best.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Donald W. Paul; two sons, Geoffrey Paul of Wareham and Jon Paul and his wife Colleen of Portland, Maine; a brother, Lawrence Berry of Norwood; a granddaughter, Caroline Paul.

Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 13 in the Allin Congregational Church, 683 High St., Dedham. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery.

Visiting hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham.
