Letter-to-the-Editor: A great time on the Monhegan
To the editor:
One hundred and fourteen members of the Wareham Land Trust (WLT) enjoyed the annual meeting cruise aboard the Monhegan on Tuesday, Aug. 15. In addition to stunning views of our local coastline, members were treated to news of WLT’s ongoing initiatives and recent accomplishments. Two project highlights were of particular interest: WLT’s current campaign to preserve Marks Cove Vista on Cromesett Road, and WLT’s recent acquisition of the Sawyer property that will result in a new trail network of over three miles on WLT, Onset Water District and Trustees’ property off Red Brook Road. Stay tuned for news of our grand opening of this trail network this fall.
Pledge forms were available during the cruise to help with the purchase of the Marks Cove Vista, bringing WLT closer to our fundraising goals. The cruise may be over, but it’s not too late to help WLT preserve Marks Cove Vista! There will be a vote at Town Meeting on Monday, Oct. 23, to approve a CPC grant that will partially fund this purchase; your “yes” vote can help make this funding a reality. You can also find pledge forms on the Land Acquisition Program page on WLT’s website if you would like to support the project directly.
Sincerely,
Lori Benson, Wareham Land Trust Membership Chair
