To the editor:

It was one of those evenings, you know, clear and balmy ready for excitement. It was a Friday night and the doors just opened at 7 p.m. for the Scholarship Fundraiser Dance and in came many members of the community to attend this event at the Onset VFW Hall! As the Hall filled, there was standing room only to clap your hands and tap your feet to the rocking rhythm of the Perfect Example Band, dance also to the melodious twosome voices of Colleen Marshal and Chops Turner and, yes, enjoy our favorite DJ Lady K sparking the night with well known Cape Verdean Kriolu music selections.

      It was announced at this gathering that OGCVCC, INC. was approached by local longtime supporter William H. Scott who, in memory of Mary Montrond, also a supporter of our organization and pledged to match any donations up to $20,000 to benefit the Building Fund. The deadline is Sept. 4, 2023.  Therefore, our Matching Donation Fundraiser has started and Donations can be mailed to OGCVCC, INC., P. O. Box 1100, Onset, MA. 02558.

       The Board of Directors want to extend their appreciation to the community for helping to make this dance a very successful event. Thank you to the hard working ladies of the Onset VFW Auxiliary, GLO Barbeque, Lorraine Telo and many others who volunteered their time. We value your contributions.
