Lightning strikes home in Swifts Beach; no injuries reported
Lightning struck at least one home on John Street in Swifts Beach earlier this evening, a fire official said Thursday night.
The Wareham Fire Department responded to reports of one house – with the possibility of a second – being struck by lightning during the evening’s summer storm. No injuries were reported, though the fire official said residents reported smoke conditions in the house when lightning struck.
No damages were reported beyond electricity arching at the home due to the lightening strike, which led to Eversource being contacted to check in on the home’s electrical services.
Posts on local Wareham Facebook pages show residents reporting loud, “explosion”-like noises coming from the Swifts Beach area Thursday night.
