List of residents with unclaimed property available at State representitive's office

Aug 7, 2015

State Rep. Susan Williams Gifford (R-Wareham) has partnered with State Treasurer Deb Goldberg to provide the names of residents within the 2nd Plymouth District with unclaimed property. Anyone who believes that they are/could be owed more than $250 is encouraged to call Gifford's office for instructions on how to reclaim their property.

Unclaimed property can take the form of uncashed checks, forgotten checking and savings accounts, stocks, dividends, insurance policy proceeds, and contents of abandoned safe deposit boxes. Most accounts are considered abandoned and are turned over to the Commonwealth after three years of inactivity.

“This list is updated on a regular basis,” Gifford said. “I would ask everyone to look into the possibility that they may be on the list and owed money, even if you have checked the list previously. It really is a quick and easy process.”

“We are excited to work with the legislature to reunite constituents with their unclaimed property,” Goldberg said. “This partnership is part of our continued efforts to raise awareness about unclaimed property in local communities all across Massachusetts.”

For more information regarding unclaimed property, contact Gifford’s Boston office at (617) 722-2100, her district office at (508) 295-5999, or the Unclaimed Property Division at (888) 344-MASS (6277).
