Little Harbor Country Club gets OK to serve alcohol from golf cart

Jun 7, 2017

Little Harbor Country Club earned approval from Selectmen Tuesday night to serve alcohol from a roving golf cart.

“It’s a 19th hole being driven around, basically,” said Selectman Judy Whiteside.

Before Selectmen signed off on the request, Little Harbor Country Club representative Kenneth DiRienzo explained that a special permit from the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission had to be secured.

Known as a Transportation and Delivery Permit, it allows the golf cart transporting the beverages to cross public ways, which otherwise would be prohibited by state law.

DiRienzo said several roads are on golf course property. He noted that the cart will only be allowed to cross at specially designated areas.

Selectmen unanimously approved the request.

A previous version of this story incorrectly identified the country club. It is Little Harbor Country Club. Wareham Week apologizes for this error.
