Lopes Playground to get accessible merry-go-round as work continues

Sep 7, 2020

Work continues at Lopes Playground, as Wareham CORE spruces up the park with help from volunteers, the town, and local business people.

Recently, Bill Guenette power-washed and painted the wooden structures at the park and the gazebo.

Guy Camphina of the Wareham Sewer Department opened the pump house to allow volunteers access to water and electricity for the project.

Next, volunteers will work on installing ADA accessible pathways throughout the playground, and an inclusive merry-go-round that will be accessible to those in wheelchairs.

The engraved pickets have arrived, and Wareham Municipal Maintenance will soon begin installing the fence, rails, and pickets.

Elsewhere, sealing and line painting has begun at the Hammond School.
