Lost dog reunited with owner

After he was brought to the Wareham Police Station by a concerned citizen on June 20 a lost dog is home safe with his owner.

Animal Control Officer Tim Houlihan said the dog was picked up by his owner just a day later.

The dog's owner brought the pup along to visit family in Wareham when the dog escaped, Houlihan explained. After being dropped off with police, the dog was taken to the humane society in Dartmouth where he was reunited with his owner.

Citizen Carrie Grey, who found the pooch, said she is relieved to hear the pup is back with his family.

Grey said she was on her way to work on June 20 when she found the lost dog off of Bay Road at the Plymouth, Buzzards Bay, and Wareham town lines.

"If it were my little guy I would want someone to help him, so I pulled over. I wanted to get him out of the street," Grey said.

The dog had no collar or tags. After checking with a few neighbors to see if the pup was theirs, Grey said she lured the pup into her car with a sandwich.

"Now I am going to carry dog treats in my car," she said with a laugh.
