Lowe's employees and volunteers to pitch in for local school

Sep 7, 2010

This weekend, Lowe's employees from throughout the region will join with local residents in a volunteer effort to build a new play area for the Christopher Donovan Day School, a learning facility for students with special needs.

From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 11, and Sunday, September 12, volunteers will pitch in to help the school construct a playground and assist with landscaping the backyard area of the school, which is located at 4 Recovery Road in Wareham.

Volunteers are still needed to help with the playground project, and the public is welcome to participate. Pastry and coffee will be provided.

"We are so grateful to Lowe's and their employees for partnering with us to make the Christopher Donovan Day School an even more welcoming place for our students," said Helen Bradbury, president of the Christopher Donovan Center and Day School. "We are thrilled to have so much support from the community."

The Christopher Donovan Day School is a non-profit, private special needs school for students in grades 1 through 6 unable to attend a traditional school setting. It opened in Carver in 2007, and moved to its new, larger facility in Wareham in January. The facility currently offers educational assessments, academic and Wilson reading tutoring, sensory motor-, social- and life-skills training, behavioral management, respite care and special summer programs.
