Malcolm W. Nason, 81, Professor Emeritus North Shore Community College
Malcolm W. Nason, 81, died August 31 at his home in Wareham after a long and courageous battle against cancer. He was the husband of Doris C. (Tondreault) Nason. Born in Norton, he was the son of the late Dura Wadsworth and Edith (Ratcliff) Nason.
Mr. Nason left high school to enlist in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and returned to receive his diploma after his military service. He graduated from Univ. of Massachusetts – Amherst, studied at Harvard University, and received his M.Ed from Framingham State College. Mr. Nason was professor at North Shore Community College for many years. He was awarded Professor Emeritus in 2004.
A previous resident of Acton and Hamilton, he was a winter resident of Green Valley, AZ, and a resident of Wareham since 1997.
Mr. Nason was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Cape Cod Writers Center. He was also a long time swimming official for the Special Olympics Massachusetts.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Donald E. Nason of Charleston, SC, Malcolm W. Nason, Jr., Ph.D. of Nutley, NJ and David C. Nason of Huntersville; his daughter, Valerie S. Brumbelow of Canton, GA; his sister, Elizabeth D. Lorance of Sullivan’s Island, SC; his grandchildren, Jerry, Joyce, Keir, Hartley, and Natasha, and many nieces and nephews.
