Man charged in stabbing

Dec 2, 2013

Twenty-year-old Thomas Tibbetts has been charged with assault & battery with a dangerous weapon (knife) in relation to the Friday Nov. 29 stabbing of 25-year-old Noah Martin-Long of Wareham according to Interim Police Chief Kevin Walsh.

Martin-Long was airlifted to a Boston hospital Friday afternoon after being stabbed in the back twice during an argument.

A press release issued by police Monday said Martin-Long is in stable condition.

The suspect reportedly left Martin-Long's 28 Cedar Street residence before the responding officers arrived.

The Wareham Police Department responded to the  incident at approximately 3:30 p.m. with Wareham EMS. There, police say they spoke with Martin-Long before he was transported to Tobey Hospital.

Martin-Long was then airlifted to a Boston hospital, where he is being treated for the stab wounds.

Interim Police Chief Kevin Walsh said in a press release that the investigation is ongoing and that more will be detailed when available.

Martin-Long is apparently known to police. He was charged with armed robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife) in 2012. In 2011, he was charged with domestic assault and battery and threatening to commit murder. The previous year, he was charged with possession with the intent to distribute class B, D and E drugs. Whether Martin-Long has been convicted of any of the charges could not be immediately learned.
