Marilyn E. Lakin, 90, of Onset formerly of Raynham died Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Sippican Healthcare Center in Marion.

Born in Great Barrington, she was the daughter of the late John and Marguerite (Grau) Zucco. Raised in Raynham, Mrs. Lakin was a graduate of Taunton High School, Class of 1950. She moved to Onset in 1955.

Mrs. Lakin worked as a secretary at Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Bourne for 25 years retiring in 1998. After her retirement, she did home healthcare for several years, then worked for the Wareham Free Library in the children’s section. While at the library, Mrs. Lakin would bring books to local nursing home residents. She loved to travel, enjoyed music and theatre, word search puzzles and playing solitaire.

Mrs. Lakin volunteered for several organization in the area. She was a member of the former Benjamin D. Cushing V.F.W. Post Ladies Auxiliary and the St. Margaret/St. Mary’s Guild. A communicant of St. Margaret’s Church in Buzzards Bay, she served as lector and eucharistic minister, bringing communion to homebound parishioners.

She survived by her children, Scott Lakin and his wife Elizabeth of Carver and Nancy McCloskey and her husband Robert of Dover-Foxcroft, ME; her brother, Thomas Zucco of Plymouth; her grandchildren, Scott and Joseph Lakin, Steven Fuller, Karen Brinkman and Eion McCloskey; her great grandchildren, Ethan and Jackson Fuller and Jameson Brinkman, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, the late Janis Fuller; her sister, the late Betty Tipping; and her brother, the late Jack Zucco.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 3 – 5 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Aug. 22, 2022 at St. Margaret’s Church, Main St., Buzzards Bay at 10 AM. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Taunton.
