Mary Adella West, 89, member First Congregational Church
Mary Adella (Whitcomb) West, 89, of Wareham, died October 3, at Tobey Hospital. She was the wife of Daniel M. West for almost 60 years.
Born in Brookline, NH, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Jane (Ward) and Harlan Jefferson Whitcomb. A previous resident of Leominster, she lived in Wareham for many years. Mary was treasured by her loved ones and known for her kind and generous spirit, her avid volunteer work, and for always putting the needs of others before her own.
Mrs. West was warranty specialist for several auto dealerships, including Baker Cadillac in Leominster and Cranberry Oldsmobile in Wareham. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Wareham and served on the Women’s Fellowship. Mrs. West also a member and former treasurer of the Tobey Hospital Guild. In Leominster, she was a member of the Chrystalites Women’s Group of the Congregational Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Robert K. West of Oxford and Daniel L. West and daughter-in-law Alice King Green of Charlotte, NC; her brother Eddy Whitcomb of Brookline, NH; her grandchildren David, Lisa, Diane, Michael, Alison, Sterling, and Jaclyn, and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, the late Harlan Whitcomb, and her sister, the late Pepper Couturier.
