Mildred Griffith, 73

Mildred Elva (Johnson) Griffith, 73, of Wareham passed away Jan. 8. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Warren Griffith. Born in Wareham, Mildred was the daughter of the late Mildred (Ritchie) Johnson and Alton Johnson.

Professionally, Mildred was a LPN for many years and earned her RN later in life. She lovingly cared for many patients stricken with Alzheimer’s and dementia in her years of working at the Bourne Manor Nursing Home.

Mildred had a love of music. Singing and music could regularly be heard coming through the walls of her home. She was an active member of the choir at the Church of the Good Shepherd for many years alongside her husband Richard. She was very active in both the Order of the Eastern Star Agawam Chapter #121 and the International Order of the Rainbow for girls, Wareham Assembly #56 for many years. Mildred had a sincere love of animals of all types, especially her cats Sal and Sam. She could regularly be found wherever a pet could be found, usually with it on her lap!

Mildred is survived by her daughter Karen Blanchette, daughter Jeane Wallace and her husband Joe and son Andrew Griffith and his wife Lauren all of Wareham. She is also survived by her grandchildren Nicholas, Hope, Rebekka, Elizabeth and Jackson. She was the sister of Ronald Johnson of Reeds Spring, Missouri and the late Donald, Walter and her twin brother James Johnson. She is also survived by many loving relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. in the Church of the Good Shepherd, located on High Street, Wareham. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
