Join local children's author Gretchan Pyne on Saturday, May 8, for a Mommy and Me party at Sisters Hair Salon in Mattapoisett from 12 to 2 p.m.

Pyne will read from her new book, "Lulu's Lovely Dress That's Too Small," and the afternoon will also include activities that will provide opportunities for mothers and their children to bond...as well as Mother's Day gifts.

Mothers and children can decorate flower pots, create a keepsake bracelet, and decorate a picture frame to showcase a photo from the event.

"It should be a wonderful few hours for moms to celebrate Mother's Day with their kids," Pyne said.  "What's soooo cool is little ones can make gifts for their mothers and get to spend time having fun together."

The event will also collect gently used clothes, toys and books to be donated to a child in need through Gifts to Give, which is partnering with Pyne to promote giving.
