Movie night to benefit Wareham Free Library

Apr 4, 2016

Wareham’s Flagship Cinema will hold a benefit for the Wareham Free Library on April 13 at 7 p.m. The movie, “The Finest Hours,” starring Chris Pine and Casey Affleck, recounts the tale of the Coast Guard’s daring rescue off Cape Cod in 1952 when two oil tankers split in half at the height of a nor'easter. The movie is based on the book “The Finest Hours: The True Story of the U.S. Coast Guard’s Most Daring Sea Rescue,” co-authored by Michael Tougias and Casey Sherman.

Tickets are $5 and are available at the Main and Spinney Branch Libraries and at the cinema door.

On May 12, at 5 p.m. at the library, Tougias, an award-winning author, will lead a discussion and hold a book signing. This event is free to the public. Dinner with Tougias will follow at 7 p.m. at the Marriott Event Center. Tickets are available at both libraries and cost $100. Dinner at the author’s table tickets are $1,000.
