Music festival to rock Onset

Aug 11, 2015

The summer of the Onset Bandshell keeps rolling, as another new event will take place at the Bandshell this weekend, the Onset Rocks Music Festival.

Festival organizer and Onset Bay Association Vice President Kat Jones said she thought to put together the festival, after receiving more band submissions for the Summer of Love than she had room to book – which is, apparently, par for the course for Onset.

“I get so many submissions from bands, I could book a concert every single night of the summer,” Jones said. “But I don’t have money for that, or the time.”

The festival, which will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, features five Cape-area bands, including Wareham-based headliner, Just Like That.

Jones also said there would be “a handful of vendors, to give it a festival-like atmosphere.”

“The goal is to raise money for the Onset Bay Association … and add a little something to the events in the area,” Jones said. “We will have a donation bucket, and a 50-50 raffle with a cash prize.”

The festival lineup is as follows:

  • The Elvis Experience, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
  • Scott Longanbach, 12:20 p.m. - 1:20 p.m.
  • The Dirty Birds, 1:40 p.m. - 2:40 p.m.
  • The Marty Crow Band, 3:00 p.m. - 4:20 p.m.
  • Just Like That, 4:40 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
