No one was injured in an apartment fire that broke out above Gateway Gold and Pawn, located at 298 Main Street in Wareham, at around 11:13 a.m. on Wednesday. More than a dozen firefighters rushed to the scene, where they carried out the youngest residents of the three-story, multi-family structure.

The building is owned by Dominic Cammarano, a member of the Finance Committee. "A pot on the stove boiled over and caught on fire," explained Cammarano, who was at the scene of the fire.

The commercial and residential building houses 12 people including Abdo Mora, who was preparing a meal on the stove when the contents of the pot caught fire. "The stove is broken," he stated. "I told the landlord and he never listened to me, now look what happened today."

Wareham Fire confirmed a grease fire caused kitchen to go up in flames, resulting in about $1,000 worth of damage to the apartment.
