Nosh for Nature

What happens when you combine a community-minded restaurant with a land-protection organization trying to raise funds to preserve waterfront property? Find out on Sunday, March 7, between 4 and 8 p.m. at Cosi at Wareham Crossing.

Cosi will donate 10% of proceeds from all sales that Sunday evening to the Wareham Land Trust who will use the funds for its Mark’s Cove Corridor Project.

The Mark’s Cove Corridor is a 2.5 acre parcel of coastal land at the end of Columbia Street. It abuts an additional 112 acres of already protected open space and could eventually create a swath of 130+ acres of preserved land extending to Swifts Beach and including nearly 1.75 miles of coastal shoreline that will be open to the public.  The Land Trust has already borrowed the purchase funds to expedite the transaction, since the new parcel was recently permitted for residential construction.  The Cosi fundraiser will help repay the outstanding loan.

Activities at the restaurant will include coloring for the kids and Land Trust Board members waiting on tables. They will share information about the exciting new Mark’s Cove project as well as other protected lands throughout Wareham.

“We invite everyone to join us for a fun and worthwhile evening," said Kathy Pappalardo of the Wareham Land Trust Board of Directors.  "Land Preservation at its best is a community-wide undertaking, so we are thrilled to have this great local business support our efforts. The food is terrific and so is the cause!”
