Ocean State Job Lot to host grand opening at new location
Ocean State Job Lot will hold its official grand opening on Saturday, March 12.
It will be the 121st store opening for the Rhode Island retailer, which has 120 other stores throughout the New England area, as well as New Jersey and New York.
The 43,000 sq. ft. location at 3005 Cranberry Hwy. is Ocean State Job Lot’s 49th in Massachusetts, and the seventh in the Cape Cod area. It is among the largest in the chain.
The daylong grand opening will see a ribbon cutting led by Board of Selectmen Chair Patrick Tropeano at 10 a.m., and attended by Congressman Bill Keating and State Representative David T. Vieira.
During the event, Ocean State Job Lot will give away a variety of food samples from its brand name vendors and a chance to win $200 towards shopping at the store. Various community organizations and businesses will display their information, offer prize drawings, and be on-hand for the morning festivities. Attendees will also have a chance to win $100 raffle tickets for a $10,000 “Pot of Gold” prize drawing, courtesy of the Cape Cod Military Support Foundation, Inc. Tickets to “The Odd Couple” will also be given away, courtesy of Buzzards Play Productions.
East Wareham’s store manager Rich Hayes has worked for Job Lot for 30 years. He started as an associate in Hyannis and was most recently the store manager in Falmouth.
“Being from this area, I can say with certainty that people who live, work and vacation nearby are very excited to have a Job Lot at this location,” he said. “Job Lot has come a long way since I started here, when they only had about half a dozen locations.”
During the opening, the store will also be making a donation of shelf-stable food to The Greater Boston Food Bank.
