An online workshop presented by the Coalition for Children and Kristen Flannery, sponsored by the Wareham Office of Beyond School Time, will discuss building self-awareness and identity in young children.

It will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 16 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.; visit the Coalition’s website to learn more and sign up.

Self-awareness starts developing as early as 15 months old, and can be supported through play, routines and positive reinforcement, increasing children’s understanding of themselves as well as their ability to follow directions, persevere and complete age-appropriate tasks. In the workshop, participants will learn examples of clear expectations, reflections and positive reinforcement that promote progression for self-awareness in infants to school-age children.

The workshop is part of the Cape and Islands Social Emotional Learning Parenting Workshop Series; the Wareham Office of Beyond School Time is presenting the series’ January installment.
