Onset Bay Center ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on Oct. 8

Oct 2, 2021

On Oct. 8, the Buzzards Bay Coalition plans to host an official ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house to belatedly celebrate the opening of the completed Onset Bay Center.

The center has been open since summer 2020, but the severity of the pandemic prevented a formal celebration when renovations were first completed.

The grand opening event is planned for 4 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 8.

From 4 to 4:30 p.m. outside, on Onset Beach in front of the bathhouse, speakers will share a few words and an official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place. Then from 4:30 to 6 p.m., the Buzzards Bay Coalition will host an open house inside the center.

“Come celebrate the ‘official’ completion of the Onset Bathhouse rehabilitation and launch of on-the-water engagement programs for youth and families through the Onset Bay Center,” said a press release from the coalition.

During a Sept. 21 Select Board meeting, Kat Garofoli, the director of the center, said that the Quahog Republic Waterfront Eatery would provide refreshments and serve drinks.

Masks will be required for anyone interested in entering the bathhouse. Free parking will be available at Onset Pier and on the street.
