Onset Cape Verdean Festival gets OK from Selectmen
On Tuesday, Selectmen approved the use of Prospect Park for the annual Onset Cape Verdean Festival, slated for Aug. 12.
Each year, the festival attracts tens of thousands of people to celebrate Cape Verdean culture in the heart of Onset. Cape Verdean Festival Association President Mike Roderick appeared before the board to seek approval. Roderick noted the festival is on track for this year.
“We plan on having another great event,” he said.
The association is always welcoming new members. To become a member, there is an application to complete and a one-time membership fee. There are three meetings every year. Every October, the association hosts a dinner to say “thank you” to all the members and those who volunteer at the festival.

The rain date for the festival is Aug. 13.
